Gladioli I bought from Lidl. They were £1 for 40 corms. I got 4 packs. These are just a few. Every one of them came up as well
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

they're a lovely colour, shirlton, are they all the same, ours are just coming in to flower

pigeonseed

wow that's so cheap. And they're really beautiful.

GrannieAnnie

Beautiful color. Have you ever tried planting them at different depths so see if they bloom at different times?
I don't know if that works or not but was thinking of trying it with some next year. Saw some blue glads in a catalogue (Jung's) and thought since delphiniums are so difficult for me to grow perhaps a clump of blue glads would work instead next year. They wouldn't be fetched with your bargain price though- what a steal!

Beautiful, lovely colour fab price you couldn't buy a bunch for  a quid

You can get different varieties of gladioli to stagger the flowering time, GrannieAnnie - not sure the planting at different depths would work that well. Also, I'd be wary of "blue" gladioli in a catalogue - I don't think that a "true" blue exists, only shades of violet.

I'm sure you are probably correct on the non-blue color.

No manic they are not all the same I got 3 different colours.pink, yellow and peach. I grew them for picking and these were the first to bloom. They had lots of different summer flowering bulbs as well. Guess where I will be going again later in the year.lol

Absolutely beautiful Shirl.  Just love them, I only have about 6 but will definitely grow more next year.

I bought an inexpensive bag of glads in mixed colors last Spring. The bulbs had different shades of color to them so I grouped the ones that looked similar together and planted them in different areas. We ended up with some light orange, two bright red, some delicate white, a yellow with a bright orange throat and this morning a creamy white with light lavender petals!  A bit of excitement like opening Christmas presents.

So nice Manic. Went to plot today and some of mine were broken down with the wind and rain, but were ok when picked.

I bought a pack of 40 for £1 from Poundland and am thrilled to bits with them.  They have all come up and most look like they will flower.  So far have picked 10 sprays - 7 orange, 2 yellow and 1 which looks like it will be pinky/red.  At the same time I got 50 iris for £1 and had 48 flowers from them earlier in the year - will definitely be back for more when they come into stock.

I have always had trouble getting gladioli to do what I want in a vase but bought an 'Instant Florist' at Tatton Park Flower Show.  The pack came with a clear hard plastic gizmo and a grey foam one - the grey foam one is working perfectly for the gladiolis.  Have a look - http://www.theinstantflorist.com/gallery
