What is epsom salts?

I'm sure there is an actual fertilizer that is epsom salts but can't think what it is.

Speaking to a champion onion grower and show judge today who's had his plots for 55 years and he told me to sprinkle E/S around my onions now to make them swell... As if they need swelling! I'm pretty proud of them as they are but if it helps.

His onions average 5 to 6 pounds each  :o

Many thanks.
Tony.

Magnesium Sulphate.

Fortnightly spray for Toms, but know nothing about Onions.

Anyway, a 5lb Onion is far too big for the kitchen & I don't exhibit.

Its new to me as well if you want to feed your onions then a watered solution of Fish blood and bone is as good as anything or Chempac leek and onion feed.
Getting a big onion is not necessarily down to the feed it is mostly down to the breed of onion.

Neither do I, but for some reason I really enjoy growing onions. It's not something I thought about. I just seem to find myself paying more attention and talking to them more than anything else.

I was recommended on using it to help my magnesium deficient potatoes.

But are you the Chef, Plottie?

Chris Graham

I used it on my tomato plants last year as they were lacking magnesium. This year I havent had too.

Though my potatoes have gone a bit yellow, but I think that due to them dying down.
