well there in again - went up the lottie tonight and there no tops on my carrots and the hearts are out of some of my brussells - we thought we had sorted out all the holes in the main fence but they must have either dug or found a way through.  looks like a new fence for round my  plot - cant really afford it but cant really afford not to do it.  gona just have to fire fight at the moment as ive got my sister in laws weeding at the start of august then we are away for a couple of weeks on holiday - so might not have the cash for a full fence rebuild till end of september - o joy
seriously contemplated ambushing the fluffy monsters with my .22 air rifle - but no hard ground around the plot to act as a catch for any misses so not safe - dont want to get in trouble with the law now do i.
o the joys of being an allotment holder
(sorry for ranting them and their tree cousins just get to me sometimes lol)

There is nothing wrong with using your air rifle on your allotment providing the pellets do not go beyond your boundaries.

unfortunately our allotment isnt all that big - each plot maybe only between a quarter or a sixth of the size of a normal plot and there are only about 12ish plots so if i miss its kind of definately gona go out with the boundrys - and there are to many house/schools round about

Although most types of snare are illegal,  I think free running snares are still legal in England but there are an awful lot of caveats about how you can use them. They're horrid things anyway.

Traps (the box type not the ones with jaws) are legal but must be checked at least once a day.

The use of snares in Britain is regulated under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Fen Traps are legal.
Not that i care as long as i get the rabbit but taking care not to get any other protected wildlife.

You have my sympathy Tartonterro - we have a veg patch in our garden - and several rabbit burrows in the surrounding waste ground.  Therefore is no point in trying to grow anything until we can afford the fencing.  Its depressing!!

I have found out that they're not too keen on pumpkins, squash and courgettes.  ;D

But slugs are  >:(

ah well - I'll get there eventually!!
