Why are they all dying??

Mine isn't dying (i hope) but it hated the gale force winds a couple of weeks back. Its leaves are looking decidely undeveloped and fragile  ???

Last year after all the rain it was lush.

Apparently they like dry conditions so maybe it was all the saturation last year.
