i have a monstrous courgette plant growing in a container in my greenhouse (only one grew from about a dozen seeds).  Yesterday a closed flower formed and today the flower has opened.  There are about 20ish other little buds that i can see around the bottom of the plant.  i don't want to plant it in the ground at my lottie because i have a big slug problem over there at mo.  can i leave it in it's container and how do i handle the courgette when and if it grows because it can't lay on the floor with it being in a pot.

what variety is it, mpdjulie, we have one that's a bush variety and one that's a trailing one, we tie the trailing one in to a frame so it goes up  ;D

If you have a big enough container it should be all right but you may need to give it some food.

A lot of people grow them on the top of compost heaps/bins because they are so hungry.

If you are harvesting as the experts recommend i.e. about 4" long the fruit should support itself.

Its when you allow it to grow to marrow proportions that you might have a problem.

If you are growing them this far support them on an upturned bucket or a pile of bricks.
