trees on the lottie

has anyone had any joy getting rid if trees that are blocking light and the roots taking all the moisture. I have mountain ash that is making one third of the  plot  useless too much shade.
I love trees but this one needs the crown lifting and thinning
Anybody had similar problems?

Only a plot overgrown with self set Damsons...  :-\

I've had to remove about 15 from around the edges of my plot. Ash, Sycamore, Beech, Hawthorn etc etc. The worst was the Laurel. Huge roots, really thick and deep.

Watch your back when yanking them out!  :(

I've planted a few round the edges in their place, sensible nice ones: Cornus Kousa, Dwarf Eucalyptus (grown from seed myself) and one Gingko Biloba away from everything at the back north end.
