Limping Hen

I remember reading in a magazine about limping hens and what the causes might be. Try as I may I cannot find the relevant article. One of my Rhode Island hens has developed a progressive limp. She appears okay but I can see that it is beginning to get her down. I leave them out of the run during the day but she is tending to stay behind.I picked her up this evening and had a good look at her. There appears to be a slight swelling on the fleshy bit on the pad of her left foot. If I push on it she gets agitated so I presume there is something going on there. There is no broken skin and if you didn't look very closely you wouldn't see anything at all. Their run is always dry and clean so I am at a loss as to what this is and what is causing it. Any suggestions?????

could be bumblefoot, if so she needs antibiotics from the vet.  you need to get it treated quickly in case it spreads to her joints
