This being my first year, how do you know when your potatos are ready. I have some Epicure 2nd earlies. They were planted in mid march along with some maris piper main crop.

Thanks. F.

They're not ready yet!

I would expect my Epicure at the start of July, not before... and the Maris try at the end of July or even Mid August... before the blight!!  ;D

They say about 12 weeks (90 days even) from planting but a lot depends on the weather, variety and soil condition.

Rule of thumb is to let the flowers die off.

But if you must, you can always gently scrape a little soil away from around  the top and pinch a few, if they are big enough, don't damage the plant and re-cover the area with soil after, not leaving any spud exposed (or it will go green) and leave to grow on.

Patience is so hard when there is so much growing and nothing ready. Innit?

Dontcha Know it. I nicked one of my Spring onions the other day. they are the width of a thread, I just could'nt resist. LOL.

Thanks for the dates. I will go by time and the dying of the flowers. That should be round about 90 days anyway.

Thanks for the replies, always appreciated.
