Something seems to be eating through the stem on each leaf but barely eating the leaf at all.  Any ideas what this could be? And more importantly what I can do about them?

Borlotti

My peppers are only just coming up.  I watered them a lot and then found out they were stinging nettles which had seeded in the soil.  I think it will be too late for them this year.  Did OK last year.  Slugs seem to eat everything so pellets might be worth trying.

Could it be slugs - they have had a very good feast on my pepper plants!!  :'(

I've just bought some copper tape. Seems to be doing the trick so far.  :)

hmm not so sure..doesn't look like slug damage.. just nipped off at the base of the stems..  would mice really do that?  strangely the plants in pots don't seem to have been attacked..

Are they out side already?

Had a lot reports of wood pigeons nipping off tops off things this year.

Peapods

Ive had this with one of my peppers in my GH, the stem looked like it had been snapped (it hadnt nothing could have snapped it off), we have no mice and it definately wasnt slugs as they dont get in my GH
weird eh?

I have dwarf red peppers and had two on the plant and when i checked this morning one pepper is half eaten, its not slugs cause they can't get to where the plants are so I have no idea

Hi Peapods  - that's exactly what happened to mine.. first one or two leaves nibbled off ,..then the top  but not much of the leaf is eaten..  maybe it is mice

When something like this happens look for tell tale signs, slugs and snails will leave a slimy trail small rodents will leave droppings. I would wager that it is voles eating your peppers so get some traps and bait them with some oxo cube or bacon.
