I've made a bit of a boob with my potatoes when i earthed them up for the first time...i drew earth completely over them so you can't see any leaves or stems.

I think i must of got carried away as it wasn't until today that someone said to me that it was an unusual why to earth up potaoes...will they carry on growing?  Does anyone know?

Yeah they'll pop up again, actually you have probably done them a favour if we do get a late frost!
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Ive been 'earthing' up with grass cuttings as my soil is clay based & the first attempt at earthing up using soil turned into loads of little rocks that rolled off  ::)
I completely covered my potatoes twice & they are huge now.

Thanks all.  I had visions of a whole empty bed over summer...you have made me feel better.

This question is coming up quite a bit - try hoeing off the top of a self setter, within days its sprouted new leaves ! so covering leaves wont be a problem...
