OMG. Something has had the tops of my tiny leeks.

Will this harm them ? They were only about 4".

As long as the growing tip has been untouched they should regrow. I can only think it may have been slugs or snails that did the damage.
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Never heard of that happening before and I notice few replies to the problem.

Any one else had this?

Flunky

it looks like someone has gone along with a pair of nail scissors. Grrrr. I have a couple rows sown the other appear to be ok.

The wood pigeons around my place love to clip the tops of newly planted leeks, its almost as if someone has hoed them off...with luck they will come back.

We have spotted wood pigeons the size of chickens around this year, they seem to prefer the brassica's outer leaves.

Interesting that they pinch leeks too.

Its nothing to worry about, infact they mat have done you a favor. I top and tail my leeks before i put them in ( cut the top 1" of to encourage flag growth. tail the root to encourage new roots.
As there is probably only two flags on at this time you would loose them any way. Don't worry about the growing tip being ate out there wont be one.
This is also a favorite of rabbits as well as pigeons, have a look for rabbit droppings.
When you wake up on a morning say "good morning world" and be grateful
