Erm, had a "oh I must have that" moment today at a nursery, comes with no instructions but was told it is hardy.
Well my small brain niggles that I read somewhere it is not hardy, but is a reed that can go in the pond............am I right or wrong?
Thanks

PurpleHeather

It is Native along the banks of the Nile, suppose you need to recreate those conditions to grow it successfully.

ACE

If its that stuff that also goes under the name 'umbrella plant', mine has been going for 5 years outside in the pond. It does spread a lot, so divide every few years and give to a friend.

Eristic

If it is Cyperus alternifolia the most common one it is as tough as old boots provided that the root ball is kept frost free. Can be grown as a pot plant, planted in the flower border or grown in ponds either as a marginal or completely submerged. Makes a very good pond water filter.
