marestail killer

Have heard that sowing turnips can help get rid of marestail,anyone know if this is true?and if so,how it works?(i was sure someone had mentioned it here before,but can't find the thread)Cheers,Cam.

apparently so, sown very thickly (so thickly that you won't be able to harvest any roots) twice a year for a couple of years. not sure how it works- must be chemical secretions I guess.

I heard this - others related the murder to bindweed.  Sow thickly spring and again in september.  Don't know much more - presumably just hoe tops off and sow again - I'm going to leave a patch aside next season and try it as I am plagued with a Christmas trees for gnomes plantation. On the good side, I did hear that as mare's tail gets its vitamins (so to speak) from way down deep, it doesn't affect the vitality of the crops we grow - no idea if this is true or hopeful nonsense - but it made me feel better!
