Design flaw or built-in obsolescence?

I've got a small collection of junior hacksaws without blades and a supply of spare blades.  But every time a blade breaks or gets blunt, I have to buy a new saw because I can't change the blade.  Does anyone have a way of changing blades that doesn't involve shredding my hands or getting a flying blade in the eye?

probably a bit of both. It is probably designed to last long enough to change to the spare blades a couple of times and then thats it.

Sad but true, disposable society means very few things are built to last.

I have an idea there is a junior frame that works the same as a full size hacksaw. The type that you tighten after the blade is fitted.
I have never seen the sense in a junior hacksaw, a proper on is more or less the same price and the broken blades can be fitted into a special handle to do smaller work.

Failing all that just open the vice  wide open and squeeze the handle slightly insert blade and losen vice.

No vice! No wonder you keep breaking blades.

Those things have traditionally been a bloody nightmare, but I bought one in B & Q a few weeks ago, with a plastic handle, and a screw which tensions the blade. If I let the tension off the screw (I just tried it), the blade lifts straight out.

I push mine against a wall when I change the blade.

Blade in front slot then push saw against something solid and the back should just slot in easy  ;D

I use a big hammer for everything. screws, sawing, adjusting electrical equipment, getting dates, everything.

Thanks everyone especially Redclanger and Buster54.  Pushed it against garage wall and was just able to get the blade in.  Still think it's cr*p deisgn though, definitely not made with ladies in mind!
