Im going to put the form in to request permission to put up a shed, but my problem is how to assemble it.  Im not sure I have the know how to do it!  I was thinking of buying one of the small sheds from wickes - http://www.wickes.co.uk/Construction-Profiles/Overlap-Apex-Shed/invt/543343

I know they deliver, but think thw whole thing will be a bit of a nightmare.  Has any of you bought a shed from a place which assmebles them for you? Also, sheds seem so expensive! Any cheap ones you know of?

We can only have max. 6 x 4 on our site.  When I checked these out over the winter Focus was the cheapest at £99.  There are firms that will put them up for you but it's ridiculously expensive.  You need 2 pairs of hands.  I managed with a friend - neither of use could be called carpenters but we did it.  If you can find a DIY-savvy friend with a power drill, you'll be fine.  Or ask someone on your site who has a smart shed if they would help you.

There are often sheds on Freecycle and lots on eBay.  If you can find one local to you, dismantling it would be a great way of figuring out how to put it up!

Director,
I see you are from York and in the past I have seen companies from your part of the world that do the service what you require, but you will have to put some kind of base down like paving slabs, the last price I saw for a 6'x4' from Focus was £117 but you have to erect it yourself which is easy, I have  erected many sheds over the years and if you are good with a hammer and a screwdriver with an extra pair of hands you can do it, :)

Sheds are honestly really easy to put together.  A cordless drill and some wood screws and someone to hold the panel while you do the drilling.

It's a bit like building a box from the inside.  Once you see all the pieces, it is obvious where each bit goes and new ones come with instructions ;)

Bought sheds are easy, lay the base on something level and flat then its just a case of screwing the sides to each other, and down to the base. Lift the roof on, nail on some felt and bobs your uncle!  :)
I managed to rebuild an 8x6 shed by myself - took alot of sweat and swearing though!

If you can have `anything` as a shed on your site try building your own out of pallets - or get a cheap old caravan from Ebay, which are normally ALOT cheaper then buying one, and wont need any assembling!  ;D

Just a word about the base. The flatter you can make it the better - if its not flat it throws the sides out and the roof will not sit on them properly.
Most bargain sheds are made of thinner wood and are not very strong - but a good base will make all the difference between it lasting a couple of years or 10.
