I blatantly refuse to type this again on the grounds that i am now down to nine fingers
OK then
2 x buckets of good compost riddled thro a quarter inch riddle
1 x bucket of moss peat                Ditto
1/2 x bucket of sharp sand            Ditto  [you can add ,more if you want it to go further]
50gm of seagold or similar
50gm of superphosphate of lime
100gm of lime.
and you can put in some clorophos/bomphros or whatever they call it now.

You have a nice day now you hear.

It works Betula, I have not spent three days doing it to fill 14 tubes and 28 dibbled holes in 45 gallon barrels to get no carrots or parsnips.
Before you start get some Algipan, Radox or Ralgex for when you finished LOL
If i may i would advise you to make sure all the ingredients are dry other wise its a heavy task when it comes to riddling. Consider how are you going to mix it all together ( i have a mixer barrel ) you may only have a shovel, a cement mixer would be perfect.

You have a nice time mow you here

What is seagold, please? I'm guessing some kind of seaweed fertiliser?

Builders sand holds water
Gardener's sand (Sharp sand) is used for drainage.

If you have a lot of builder's sand it wont do any harm to the soil to dig it in or  add it to compost heap but it is not an alternative to sharp sand the two do opposite jobs.
