hi, Thegoodlife rebuilt his pollytunnel after a storm.

here the post where he rebuilt the polytunnel - http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/index.php/topic,40382.msg

i think it is him who sells them also, but i might be wrong.

They seem expensive to start with but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. Having just bought mine this winter just before some of the worst and persistant storms in over a decade I think I made a good choice.

The cover is expensive but will make or break your results. When written down over 4 years the cost is justifiable and easily clawed back from the produce grown.

Check with the council first THWW - I have heard (but not confirmed) that they do not allow polytunnels - but they do allow glasshouses ::)  I do have a strong suspicion though that the rules may be more to with size but it is still worth checking before you do go to the expense.

For a long time, we were officially allowed greenhouses but not polytunnels. This changed after someone put a polytunnel in, and presumably made a fuss about it, so now they're OK, with permission. I know the permission thing is being completely ignored by all concerned. Do check though.

I've bookmarked Polytunnels Online; I see they have decent-sized cloches, which I've been wanting for ages. The Poundland ones are OK for starting things off, but it looks as though you could grow crops on under those, and only take them off in high summer.

You could try freecycle.org - you can find all sorts of things on there and you might get lucky.

We bought the polytunnel frame from a fella that was giving up on our allotment site and got the plastic and instructions online.  It worked out cheaper than  a small greenhouse.
