These first three pics are bushes running down the side of the lottie, I suspect gooseberry, but I'm not sure.  The last two I'm hoping someone will they are potatoes - they're about the same width away as I planted but I'm not convinced, I'm thinking a stray bramble!!  :)

first two look like my currants, third like a gooseberry, last 2, no idea, don't look like my spuds, sorry  :)

Suzanne

If no spines/thorns I would say the first are likely to be blackcurrants - my redcurrants have flowers on at the moment but not the blackcurrants, and I can see no flowers.

The shoots coming direct out of the ground if close to a blackcurrant bush will beblackcurrant as they send up new growth from the base. if no bushes nearby you may have autumn raspberries???

Suzanne

Should have said the leaves smell a little like blackcurrants if thats what they are.

goodlife

Yep..first 2 currant..black.. I think and 2 others looks like raspberry(..or that family)

ceres

I'd say manics is right about the first three and you're right about the last two - they look like brambles to me.  Do any of them have thorns?

Hmmm, thought as much.  There is a stray bramble branch about 4 ft away from the 2 shoots in ground, which despite my best efforts is refusing to be dug out!

If I remember rightly, pic no.3 has thorns but I don't think the first two did.

Thanks everyone.  :D
