First Ever Allotment

Hi everyone, my name is Graham and my local council have finally approved for me to have a space in the allotment near by. My Broccoli has just started spouting and I was wondering if I put them under cut bottles (Coke Bottles) will this protect them okay??

I am assuming that you have sown some broccolli (green?) and now have some seedlings? Personally i would wait a little longer if you can, but depending on your location you may be ok if they are covered. Still feels a bit chilly to me though. Others may dissagree. :)

Yes the broccolli is green and they are now seedlings. Thank you for the tip, I will keep them in the window sill for a little while then.

if they are indors at the moment then be careful the dont get too warm. and be sure to harden themoff by putting themoutside during the day for a week or so first to acclimatise.

O gosh I didn't think that they could get to hot. lol, I will put them outside tomorrow morning as I have the day off work.  :)

Sounds as if your broccoli is at the same stage as mine. Mine are still in the tray in the unheated greenhouse waiting to be pricked out. Mine are purple sprouting which take almost a year to mature so there's plenty of time before they need to go out.

I've never been very keen on the idea of plastic bottles. I've always been worried that because of their small size they might get far too hot far too quickly and fry whatever is inside.
