For the gardeners that use Calcified Seaweed it is being taken off the market and replaced by Calcified Plus, which i am told is also a good prevention for Club Root

I'm sure calcified seaweed will still be available but now it will come from sources where they desertify the seabed rather than dredged sensibly like in Cornwall. Apparently maerl will still be dredged in Falmouth harbour but must now be dumped at sea rather than used for agriculture. A great result for the Soil Association and the other environmental groups.

Hope this doesn't apply to Seaweed Meal which is all we use??

Robert_Brenchley

Given the amount of china clay settling out in Falmouth River, I suspect they'll be dredging there for evermore.

In passing, 'we'  (MSFU & the Merchant Navy) )took China Clay to Canada in 1942.
Great - it took 10 days to unload & we had one whale of a time!!

Robert_Brenchley

Where did you load? I used to live in the clay district in Cornwall.

Here is the spec for the new stuff. Might be a little to big but its the best i can do so it can be read.

Missed that, Robert - we boarded i Liverpool - pre-loaded, I assume?

And must stress the different uses of  Calcified Seaweed & Seaweed Meal.

Robert_Brenchley

It must have been pre-loaded by the time you got to Liverpool! It's loaded in south Cornwall; mainly Par and Fowey.
