soggy courgettes

help please, I'm still waiting for my allotmment to be allocated but have crammed the garden greenhouse with tomatoes (doing well), cucumbers and two courgette plants. The courgettes are doing well but the first fruit on each plant has gone soggy and has a hole in the end where the flower was. I don't want to lose any more fruits so any advice?

If the courgettes ends have gone yellow and brown/black and look a bit rotten it could be blossom end rot -in which case you need to give the plant more water. Take those courgettes off the plant too.

A picture would help a lot.

If you are growning courgettes be aware that they have male and female flowers, the female ones are the ones that have mini fruits. They have to be pollinated by a male flower though otherwise they grow a bit, then rot and fall off. This might be what is happening to yours. Apparently this is quite common at the beginning of the season as sometimes you don't get male and female flowers at the same time!
