Garden Organic (HDRA) is unfortunately pulling out from Yalding and the gardens will not be reopening this year. More details for HDRA members in the HDRA forums.

That is very sad news, I really liked the gardens there as they struck a great balance and variety.

Thanks for the info, would have saved a wasted journey come may time.
Best laid plans and all that

Very Sad News indeed... I have friends in Kent and always tried to get across to Yalding...

Very disappointing. I love the garden, and once they grew some things for me for an illustration job. Very sad.

That's a huge shame :( Went there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, was hoping to go back again this year. Any news on why Garden Organic have pulled out - is it just a cost-cutting thing?
Cheers,
Rob ;)

They were losing huge amounts of money.
"While Garden Organic Yalding is a wonderful facility and certainly showcases the best in organic growing methods, it was becoming a considerable drain on the charity's already limited resources, each visitor actually costing Garden Organic over £10 per person compared to the schools education programme which reaches over 1 million children in 4,000 schools for only £20 per school. There is quite a thread over on the HDRA messageboard about this. The Congelow Trust, who own the site, are working hard to get the gardens open this year.
