I have a compost bin and have been filling it up with my household waste, since last year.  I didn't think anything had worked so decided today to take all the stuff out of it and take it to my allotment and put on my horse manure heap.  Well, I am over the moon, I have compost :)

So this precious compost, what is the best thing to do with it?  Would it be good for my tubs/pots at home or would it be more benefical to use on the lottie?  If it goes to the allotment what would like it best.

What a Monday morning and a way to start the week ;D

p.s. I only sound mad as I have never ever made compost before

Mr Smith

If it was me Sinbad I would save it for my Sweet corn bed :)

Thank you, Mr Smith :)

Well done you.   :)  So satisfying isn't it?  Home made compost is best used as a soil conditioner.  It is not the same as 'potting compost' you buy in the shops.  However you can use it in your pots but it will need to be mixed with top soil, leaf mould and some sharp sand to make it viable.

Thank you Georgie for the information as I had planned to sow plants directly into it, so will dig it in the soil now.

Yes, really satisfying ;D
