Last year someone posted about a potato site for schools, I registered too late but guess what..

today I received a parcel containg two lots of potatoes , a gift certificate to buy potting soil and a lovely chart for planting and upkeep .There is a competition to see who can get the most weight.

It is a 16week programme with resources and games online to play along.

This starting date which is May 4th coincides bang on to when my lunchtime club starts at school.

Thank you to the poster who alerted me to this one.

This sounds like great fun Jeannine, such a shame I've missed the deadline for this year! But never fear I've got my school's name down for 2009  ;D

Keep us posted on how it goes......

Jeannine, are you sure the start date is May 4th and not March 4th?

Yours could be a different competition but I registered my school for this some time last year and had heard nothing from them up to the beginning of this week.  I thought I had read that the competition started in early March, so I emailed them to ask if we had been overlooked.  It seems we had, but two days later, our pack arrived - just in time.  Our start date for chitting is definitely March 4th.

Have to say, they were really good to get the stuff to us so quickly - the kids would have been so disappointed because they have been looking forward to competing.

The start date is indeed March 4th. Sadly, all your efforts will be in vain as All Saints School in Lincoln will win.  ;D

Does it ever!! Yes it was a typo...but I like the challenge.

So All Saints, you have thrown down the gauntlet.

I shall show my primary school gardeners your challenge, they enjoy looking on A4a sometimes.

Keep an eye on Thorpepark from Hull folks,we might not be completely back on track after re building from the floods but we are nearly there and chitting will begin on Tuesday.

Keep in touch All Saints!!

We wish you all the luck in the world to be  first runner up.
