I might have landed a full time job (No Dutch language required!) and was thinking about buying an economical and versatile vehicle. I've looked at the Citroen Berlingo and now thinking about this small Suzuki Wagon R. Both have a decent size rear compartment and that's what I'll need to carry my tools around. (And my dog of course).
Anyone got one of these or similar? Pro's and Con's?
Ta, Ken.

Afternoon Kenkew. I don't have a Berlingo but I have something quite similar - a Fiat Doblo. It is the model with rear seats and windows (ie. not a van). I have to say I am very attached to this vehicle. It is fairly economical and boy can you get loads of stuff in the back! I used to keep all my lottie stuff in it until I got a shed recently.

berlingo's are taking the place of those annoying little nissan micras that are always being driven by some old fart that cannot drive at more than 20mph. There should be a law that says if you should take a driving test at 65 to prove you can still drive at the national speed limit. I also expect that the wagon R will go the same way. Get a 3wheeler van

I understand from my Suzuki dealership (I have an Ignis) that the WagonR is being discontinued.

you might be able to pick one up cheap then.

Test drove all similar vehicles last year Ken, but on mass reccomendation I ended up with a Honda Cr V. Apparently they never go wrong. :o Worth a look I'd say. Good luck ;)
Smile, it confuses people.

Im an old fart and i drive a fiat cinquecentoit goes everywhere i point it ,
And all my pallets ,horse muck ,etc etc all go to the allotment in it.
In fact i proberbly get more in it than your doblo,

Todays load three pallets [6ft long ones] and a sheet of perforated stainless steel [about 4ft square].

And i assure you it does far in exess of 20 mph , i dont wear glasses but i do have the flat cap

We've a Wagon R.  There's an amount of space in the rear but no where near the Berlingo, indeed, the length x width is probably less or the same as my Pug 105, but the height is greater.

But, so far (5 years) the Wagon R has been very reliable.  Makes an OK car for getting around town and gives no problems when I use it on the motorways to get from Brum to Cornwall.

Just dropped off a Berlingo to one of my units.  very impressed loads of room in the back and very comfortable to drive.

The one I dropped off was fitted with a fridge department for food and had a shelf which is just what we needed.

Only got 32500 on the clock even though a Y Reg.  The company has had it from new and had no problems with it.

good luck with your search.

There seems to be little difference in price Berlingo/WagonR...Both hover around â,¬12,000 here in Belgium.
The Fiat Diablo looks good too. Economy and reliability are top concerns with purchase price a close second.
(If it didn't rain so much I'd screw a side-car to my M/bike!)

Still going through the on-line brochures! Keep the info coming.

Oh dear I'm an Old Fart, because there are only two of us, and after a lifetime of driving on the roads, more thank likely backwards further than you've driven forwards.

I wanted to compensate for the increase in petrol, and reduce my road tax from what I was paying for my BMW.

Sorry for being a boring old fart, but I purchased to Nissan Micras, one for me the other for the wife, so now you've got to of use to contend with!!!! :P

I have a confession to make.
I have had a flat cap for some time (I always thought it was a fashion statement) - but started to wear proper lady hats for the first time this winter (they started to sell them in M&S so us novices could buy them openly). I also have a habit of leaving them on when driving (too much bother to remove).

I find that I don't like excessive speed ( Ilike looking at the scenary - which is worrying for my passengers).

It has been my long term ambition to be Margeret Rutherford by the time I am 70 (still got a few decades to go) and Judge Judy by 50 (not so long for this).

And..............I find I want a Citroen Berlingo or similar so I can get plenty of allotment gear in.

My OH is getting worried and now has less hair than Alastair Sim !
