Just as a matter of interest, I grew dahlias from seed last year. It was supposed to be a mixed packet but I didn't get any pompoms. Maybe there will be some from this year's sowings.  They were very easy to grow from seed.

Agree with Florald, we grew cactus dahlias from seed last year (cheap 50p packet from Kings), gave us 2 dozen plants of random colours  ;D
If you aren't bothered about getting a particular colour, its a great way of brightening up your veg plot  :o
This year we'll be sowing a packet of pompoms (50p from Kings again)  ;D
