hiya, kay..welcome to the site..we've got early peas sproutiing  under cover in our guttering, lettuce and mixed leaves on the windowsill, tomatoes in the windowsill propagator, sweet potato set to sprout on the windowsill and I'm starting off chillies tomorrow..need bigger windowsills  ;D

Wow, thanks for that manicscourers, I should get a move on then.

The weather here, as most places in the uk was not good for growing last summer and we suffered, I only get a couple of hours of an evening and Sunday to keep things going and up together so I was looking this to cut back on quantity but maybe grow a few new things, I hadn't thought of sweet potatoes so think I might give them a go.

I have grown chillies for the last couple of years, apache in particular, with quite a bit of success so fingers crossed.  I have never grown from seed though but as you have got yours going I think I should don't you

Thanks for your help

Katy

Hello Kay and welcome from me too  :)
I have chillies started off, plus all year round lettuce, and potatoes chitting. Can't wait to really get sowing  ;D

forgot about the potatoes, and the shallots we've planted, and the garlic, ordinary and elephant  ;D

I've planted onion sets and garlic, but my shallots haven't arrived yet. Potatoes are set up for chitting. I must sow tomatoes and chillies asap. Also I got given some aubergine seeds. I've never grown them before so not sure whether to sow now or treat them like courgettes and sow later.

I'm going to sow some more artichokes too. They're beautiful and they taste good.

Katyq

Thank you all so much for your replies.

At the very least I have realised that I must start getting sorted very very soon!

We have an excellent hardware store in the village near my ofice so I will pay them a visit in the morning.

I haven't grown Aubergine or Artichoke wither.  Might give them a go although I have never tasted artichoke.

thanks
Katy

manics and graw do you have green houses for your tomatoes to go into?

davee52uk

Sowed some leek seed in an unheated greenhouse. Also sowed broad beans in a propagator these are starting to sprout but no action yet from the leeks.
