Hi Roy, just viewed the pics of your garden and it looks terrific. I'm really jealous of that palm - it would be wind scorched in seconds where I live!! Thanks for the link, it's great to see other folks' spaces.

Cheers, Iain

Hey Roy - you got room for one more down there?  :P

I could live quite happily in your garden, it's beautiful. As Iain says that palm would'nt survive for long in our harsher Scottish climate. I, however, could survive VERY well in a warmer clime.  :) :)

Yes, eileen, can picture you stretched out on your sunlounger below that palm with a BIG stack of seed catalogues and  mobile phone and credit card nice and handy  ;)
Equality isn't everyone being the same, equality is recognising that being different is normal.

Iain, if you are refering to the palm listed as Trachycarpus fortunei in our front garden then yes you can grow these like weeds (well almost) they are as tough as old cocoa nuts. Take a peek at this site...St Andrews in Fife http://www.stabg.freeserve.co.uk/julypom02.htm
If you mean the other palm well it's not really a palm but in Torquay they call em Torbay palms very exotic looking but not real palms, with a little winter protection you could still grow these.

Eileen, you are most welcome, tell you what I'll string a hammock between the two palms especially for you and serve you my favorite tipple, a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.  :P :D
