Well, if you've not already had a look at this one, here's the start of a story to keep them interested and one you can add your own imaginationary page to...( Yes, it's mine and free for any A4A'r to add to )

Jeannine

This is great.

I am going to share a very personal thing here, when I was a child I was read to every night by my Dad, I found it very comforting and always dropped off before the end of the story.  Many years later at a bad time when I was quite ill, in a lot of pain and unable to sleep, I reminded John of the procedure as a child. He started to tell me a story which he had to make up as he went along, it did the trick, in minutes I felt like a small child again with a male voice that I loved comforting me in the background.

You have to understand that my John has to be the shyest person in the world and for him to do this is quite amazing.

I have to now tell you it is a regular thing, he  asks me what I want the story to be about, I can say eg a girl who wanted a red dress but her parents are poor...the story is there.

I have tried for many years to get him to write them down but no luck.

Reading your story made me feel so sort of little again.

Well done XX Jeannine

Pity Jeanine that story telling isn't as popular as it used to be. My Dad was the story-person in our home, something I took up with my little'uns. Me thinks we allow kids to 'grow-up' too quickly....Bring back the bed-time tales.....

:D

I have around 10 different 'continuations' to the above story and something like 300 pages in draft. Quite amazing how many routes you can take once your imagination takes over, eh?

Oh Jeannine - have just read your little 'story' about your John bringing you such comfort with his storytelling at a difficult time in your life (& something he has continued to do) found it so emotional but just lovely.

Think storytelling can be so magical altho know it can & does stir other emotions too.

As a young child, because I had a rather 'loud, carrying voice' was always asked to read out loud to rest of my infant class (I could read well before starting School) - I loved it and found it a lovely way of expressing myself.......couldn't do it now tho!.......seem to get my words in a muddle :(

Will go and look at your link in a mo Ken.
