I need a tall pea variety but I can't find a source for Magnum Bonum - how would you rate Telephone vs Alderman?

Robert_Brenchley

Alderman's good, I haven't tried Telephone. Ne Plus Ultra is another one worth looking at; get it from Robinson & Son. If anyone knows a source for Magnum Bonum, please share it!

Rhubarb Thrasher

I'll be growing Telephon next year. Isn't it right that the telephon pea was named years before the telephone was invented - the name comes from the wires used in an early form of electro-therapy??

If my wife isn't reading over my shoulder I could send you 20 Magnum Bonum to bulk up...
Telephon (Real seeds) was good but still MB did better for me!
;D

Wouldn't want to get you into trouble Saddad :)

I'm pretty new to peas anyway, so I'll be happy to try Telephon and Ne Plus Ultra this year because I won't know what I'm missing (provided you don't go on about it too much ;D)

You can get Magnum Bonum pea seeds from The Irish Seed Saver Association â,¬ 2.50 per pack, you don't have to be a member to make a purchase.

I think they are available through the HSL catalogue too but that is members only.
