Having not even celebrated our first year with our plot my other half (Without me knowing) signed up for the derelict plot next to ours. It's really exciting but slightly daunting as well! Lots and lots of space for next year.  ;D

The pic shows our current plot with OH standing looking at derelict plot beside.

Will you be having two sheds?  ;D
You can't please all of the people all of the time, but you can't upset them all at once either.

This is the one thing I feel slightly guilty about  :-\ , others elsewhere are waiting for months/years for a plot and we take 2 in under a year! Thank you for your congratrulations though!

Thanks louise stella for the praise etc. we're aiming to take it a bit slower with the new plot but knowing what we're like we'll just want it all perfect ASAP! And yes cambourne7 you're right it is the perfect time of year to start doing it, lots of preparing will go into this one with a bit more soil preperation etc.

Sadly as my other half pointed out we don't actually NEED another shed, if it were left to me I'd be installing one under floodlight as we speak!! However we aim to add a pergola type structure to the end of the old shed jutting out over the new plot to create somewhere to sit and admire the rest of the plot and all our hard work!!  ;D

gwynleg

I am just getting another half allotment hopefully this week. The council guy has been a bit discouraging - saying lots of people drop out when they have a whole allotment especially if they work during the week. I hope I havent bitten off more than I can chew but my game plan is to put in more perenials - artichokes (kindly donated by a fellow allotments4all member), raspberries, strawberries, herbs, etc. Any other suggestions gratefully accepted! How do other people working full time manage whole allotments - am I mad too?

glosterwomble

Don't be put off gwynleg, we work full time and yet we can cultivate an entire plot and now hopefully we'll be able to do 2 plots! I think the answer is to do it at your own pace, leave sections uncultivated but covered to prevent weed growth or create grass paths to divide it up as we have done.

You'll be fine, go for it, I know what the guy from the council means and he is probably just trying to make sure that you are sure that you want it.

Enjoy it and post loads of pics on here!

stig

i made the mistake of taking on 2 as a newbie.
my nephew offerd to help and did for a coupleof weeks till he discovered girls!!
any way i kept both plots till last year when i admitted it was to much work on my own, better to do 1 plot well than 2 badly!
im stig (thats short for stig in the mud)
