Our allotment is run by the parish council - poorly I might add. We have several run down allotments, a public foot path through it, no running water or amenities.

The parish council have put forward a suggestion that we join an association. Can anyone advice what this would entail, what are the benefits and how do we go about getting grants to clean up the site or set up a shop etc?

Many questions I know but your advice would be appreciated

You could start by talking to the NSalgs...

... and see if the council would pay for water to be provided BEFORE you agree to any association business, because beleive me, you won't get them to do a thing after you've formed an association!   ::)
