Home grown popcorn!

Any advise or guidance for making? 

I am going to leave them on the plant as long as possible, and then fully dry them inside the house hanging up someone.   :)
Can I bang the cob in the the oven whole or do I need to seperate Mr Kernel? ???

What variety are you growing?

I read somewhere that there are certain types for popcorn and that your regular sort won't work...  :(
