A really beautiful fuchsia -  the corolla has a lovely scalloped edge! I've never seen one like it before.

Anyone know its name, please?

Sorry Grandma, can't help.  It is a beauty.

About ten years ago I became a fuchsiaholic, would go to shows, specialist nurseries and buy, buy, buy.  I also bought quite a few illustrated books on fuchsias.

Your picture just doesn't ring a bell.  Over the course of the next few days I'll have a browse through my books to see if anything matches.

Hi grandma, i have looked in a few of my books but cannot find anything as pretty. I am addicted to them but have never seen that one before.
Grandma, PM Veggie Perrin he is a mind of information he used to show & win with his wonderfull fuchsias i am sure he will be able to help you. Rosebud. ;D

MrsKP

The colours look very similar to Rose of Denmark, but not the scalloped edge.

Both Veggie and RDM51 are gurus.  If I see RDM at work today I'll tell him to come and have a look.

Can I hijack the thread please and whilst we're looking for Grandma, can I ask about my unnamed variety .......... currently known as Gavin, but need a proper name.

Having looked through my books, the best I can come up with is either Leonora or Love's Reward.

Grandma

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions - but the good news is that the lovely old lady who gave me the plant - (and is as hopeless as me at remembering names/keeping labels) - has contacted one of her friends who also bought this lovely fuchsia - and has kept her label!!!

Apparently it's called 'Princess of Wales' - it's a relatively new introduction with all proceeds going to charity - and it's illegal to take cuttings!  :o

I would have taken cuttings if I hadn't known this - would I have been clapped in irons and thrown in the tower???

valmarg

I think you'll be OK taking cuttings for your own use Grandma.  What you can't do is sell them.

It's to do with copyright, like when you record something off the telly, OK for your own use, but illegal to sell or, with plants I believe, to  give away.

How on earth it can be policed I can't imagine.
