I won an award !!

Hi, I've been a regular 'lurker' since taking over my plot back in January but I thought it's about time I finally said 'hello' and shared my news...

I picked up the most improved plot award at our association awards this year  ;D I'm really chuffed about this. I've had lots of comments about the amount of effort I've been putting in all year and about my results so far (even though I've still a lot to learn).

To top the weekend off nicely I've just had a call to say the abandoned plot next to mine is going to become free in November and do I want it ? It's covered in a combination of a horrible vine type weed with white flowers and nettles but I took up the offer like a shot. Looks liek I'll be working even harder next year !

Anyway, it's a bit late but thanks for the tips and advice this year they've been very helpful.

Congrats Darren and welcome to the forum!  If you've been lurking then I'm sure you'll already know that there's about a thousand years of combined wisdom on this site - certainly it's the best one I go to!

What a great idea to get people to do stuff on their sites too - might have to go on the agenda for next weeks comittee meeting!  Did you receive anything for your accolade or was the recognition enough?

I got a rather tasteful (??) silver plate with a metal emblem stuck on with sticky tape. My wife made sure It didn't stay on fireplace for long ! I'm not sure what to do with it now but I'm still pleased to have recieved it.

Welcome to the asylum Darren and a big well done from me, when the wifes not looking get the plate back on the fireplace and if that don't work get one of them wall plate hooks and hang it where she can't reach it.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
