VAT on vet bills

V.A.T on vet bills.
This is a tax on sick and dying animals and
can often mean the difference between an
animal living or having to be destroyed.
In many instances it is the poorer members
of our society who are affected the most.
A petition has been raised on the Downing
Street web site to try and make vet bills exempt
from V.A.T.

A lot of people - especially the elderly, are just
above the benefits rate, so do not qualify for free
PDSA vet treatment.

Bills would be a lot less painful, if they didn't have the added extra of VAT on them.

Done. I have had to visit the vet quite a lot with Elsa (King Charles) each vsit is nearly always under the excess that is on my Insurance and the VAT makes things even harder.

That is the reason why I have never taken out insurance for my dogs.
Having said that . . . .  :-[

Emmp. This is the first dog we have ever insured and we had dogs all of our 50 years marriage. Husband thought it might be a good idea and although I have had to pay the under £50 bills I also had a bill for £300 plus and another for nearly £200. Now I am on my own and Elsa seems to have various problems I just dare not go without insurance. One of my daughters had a £300 bill when her GS cut her leg and then complications set in. She also had a bill for over £3000 for their horse (who still unfortunately had to be put to sleep) Case of thank goodness for Insurance.

I insure our two cockers partly  for vet's bills but also in case they wander off and get killed or cause an accident. Not that they have much opportunity but occasionally someone leaves a door  or a gate open.
