I think I will be going to this show tomorrow (Wednesday) - I'll probably be hanging around the free wine tasting stall/free produce tasting stalls/ veg displays/trying out the back massager that goes on a chair.....

Cinzano, Organic Vodka, Organic Spiced Rum, Coconut rum thing & green ginger wine were consumed at the show today by me.

There were a few vegetable show gardens  :D

I saw AWT and he is even more ....... than on tv

Got more out of the show this year than I did last year - I was disappointed last year.

Little one enjoyed the water features - those fountains and other dribbly things - I had to drag him away from them. I bought a lavender and let him carry it in a bag - he shook the bag and broke the flower stem off  :'(

Considering doing Tatton Park this year.....

What about the ice cream - did you miss that one out? We had those delicious Welsh Oggies for lunch.

I tried the eye massager glasses - very 'flattering' but seemed to work. All I purchased was a bag of cosmetics after getting a quick make-up lesson !
We kept on looking at all the plants, but decided that we have had them all before so saved our money.

I saw those eye massager things and I thought - nah. Did that back massager thing though (just what I needed, but at £100 show offer - I need to win the lottery first).

Maybe you saw a bedraggled mother and lively toddler there - I sat down for a cuppa and he pushed a chair round and round the table! His top said - BEWARE LITTLE TERROR, and he was wearing red shorts. He loved the curly parsley on display at the National Vegetable Society.

was really hoping to make it over to gwlive for the 1st time but it just didnt happen , wanted to try some of the plant swapping and generally have a good weeekend in birmingham . is it a big venue ? could u spend a whole day in it ? ???

Multiveg

The nec is huge - gwlive takes up 5? halls, and outside there is a marquee, gardens and even more stalls. You can spend the whole day there. I spent about 5 hours there and I still didn't get to the ice cream...

Well Multi you certainly missed out - ice cream was lovely. Yep TIG you could easily spend all day there, but take lots of money - so much to buy especially if it's your first time there. By the way, the marquee is the one the RHS use at Chelsea.

Yeah, if you want to stop yourself spending money - go on the train. It is somewhat restrictive. Well if you are generally considerate of other people anyway(people with fold up wheel barrows full of stuff shouldn't get on trains  >:( ).

I had a great time, my legs are killing me. Signed up for HDRA & Seed Library. Had a nice chat with one of the women on the stall who works with the library. That was probably the biggest expense. Didn't really buy anything else. Think I'll go by myself next time, I'm not good with other people. Didn't catch too many of the show because of the seat hogs and I wasn't really that interested in some of the topics. The celeb spotters were out in force. Apparently Monty isn't as tall as he looks on tv(according to my older friend) - didn't look any different to me. Maybe it's an age thing. Think I managed to see all the gardens. The RHS plant mall thingie was heaving at 11:30am, heaving!!! Shall have to scout about more freebies next time.

Lavender

I was there yesterday too (from opening time till shutting).  How those people got their plants home in one piece I'll never know.  They were pushing through the crowded marquees with great long plants poking out of carrier bags - I clung to my new white lavender safe in its little bag like it was a precious gem (well it is!)  Yes the icecream was superb - used 2 of the 50p off vouchers today to buy two lots of the stuff (which were on bogof in Tesco)!

Pity about the sound quality from AT - couldn't hear a word.  Also Monty took questions but didn't repeat them for the audience, so we only heard the answers  :(  Still, loads of good stuff and definitely worth the effort of a 5am start.
There'll be years for cooking and cleaning - get yer wellies on!
