As all my strawberries have now finished, my plants have huge green leaves and runners. I think I am happy with making new plants off the runners.

But what do I have to do with this years plants to keep them healthy for next year? Do I cut the leaves off down to the ground? Leave them on? Do I do it now or after making new plants? So many thought options but what, when and how do I do it? my oh my oh my.....

I tidy mine up now, giving the old plants a gentle going over with the shears and raking off all the leaves, debris and straw.  Most crowns will have little baby new leaves.  I peg the runners down where I want them and then give them a feed with chook pellets.  That is all the treatment mine get, and we had such an amazing harvest from them this year! Be careful though, mine have got flowers again so if this rain ever stops, we may get a few late strawbs.
