Jeannine

I just need to tell you that I have had  e mails from the US and Canada from a great many friends who DID see the news of flooding in their press and they were very informed.

We are on an International prayer chain that originates in the US that did not by the way start with anyone in the UK.

I have had 8 personal friends who have had a whip around in their own area and send to the Hull Flood Fund .

Just thought you may like to know this.

Special Relationship?

Jeannine

Yes, very close friends but the point was they had in their own areas heard of the flooding in their media so obviously US and Canada do print news from the UK XX Jeannine

Jack, where are you in the country? I don't know where the kingdom of the pig is!! It really is unbelievable what's happening. Apparently, according to my American friend it hasn't (or hadn't) made the US news. Nice to know they give a s*it isn't it?

The Kingdom of the Pig is the old nickname for Wiltshire really, my birthplace but i live in Gloucestershire now - Cirencester.

Why on earth would it make the American news?  They have weather which kills dozens of people every year, a few big puddles won't be on their radar (nor will our troops!)

It is on the French news every hour, German news etc.  British stylie - don't make a fuss!

I hope that I haven't given the wrong impression; loads of da peeps are much worse off than us.

Your good wishes have put a definite spring in our steps though  ;D

It should make their news because it is a blimmin' serious disaster. As it now has made it I will zip up. I was just shocked that when I replied to my friends e-mail (North Carolina) with the comment "I don't know if I'll be able to get the girls up to my mum's with what's going on" he said "Huh? What is going on?" That was Friday. I sent him a link to BBC news. He was amazed that he'd heard nothing about it, especially when he saw the aerial photos and how serious it is.

Now folks! Watch out! You could be seriously off topic here. :P :P ;D Let's stick wit the wellies. Probably of more use in the floods. Although from what I've been hearing not even waders would do in some places.

Oldmanofthewoods

You are right of course.  (nice ankles though!)

The summer deluge is now hitting Oxford and it's going to get worse.  Water lapping around the dreaming spires.  Will this never end?

we have started to see the first preperation of flood defences in out area as there sandbagging st neots ( 10ish miles away ) so i am sure i will not be affected.

That said its blowing a gale over here and the rain has chased me away from the plot.

Good luck folks.  Stiff upper lip and all that.  Hope you are all OK.

Jeannine

You really are much in my thoughts, enough is enough, no one else needs to go through this. .

I have been trying to figure out which is worse,

a) getting the floods the first time when you really don't know what to expect,

b) the second time when you know how bad it can be.

c) watching a different area that are expecting it and willing it to stop

d) feeling guilty  because some folks have had it worse.

I couldn't decide.

Good Luck to all of you,  XXXX Jeannine

That's really awful but I suppose with this freak weather it is inevitable. people just don't know how best to protect themselves.
