Weeding........by hand!!!

Well, finished a week of nightshifts this morning & went down the lottie to have a quick look see before recharging & horror of horrors, one of my beds had vanished under that B!!**y bindweed!

Went home cussing & swearing & threatening all kinds of retribution on the blasted weed then went to bed for five hours.

When got up still mad but now determined to do something so when the heat (28C today) started to die down a little up here in Leicestershire went back to my plot.

Two and a half hours of work on my hands and knees(yes, really!) later I re-discovered onions, carrots, leeks & parsnips.   Now the poor dears can get water, food & light they might start to grow again.  

I'm now kn******d so I'm off back to bed.   Oh well, I can go do some more tomorrow & see if I can re-discover my cabbage, caulis, red & green sprouts & broccoli

Poor you! If only the plants grew as well as the weeds.  ::)
Anyway I am useless with a hoe - dangerous even, I howk up the plants along with the weeds, so I always weed on hands and knees - have an assortment of kneeling pads to bring a little variety into the job - sad life isn't it!!

I'm a hands and knees girl too  :o...ahem.... :o I had to rediscover my brocolli today under a tent of bindweed.  It had twined around my pigeon proofers as tightly as wire!  Blasted stuff, and it grows soooooooooo fast!  >:(

I thought I was the only hand weeder! Working a plot where bindweed is king, I know the feeling. You turn your back and the bl**dy stuff is up round your waist! I always drown my weedings in a water butt. Gives me a good feeling to know it will ultimately feed my veg.
