Why are my 5ft plants now exceeding 9ft any answers!! >:(

Plenty of rain and good rich soil... at least they are stood up, after the last strong wind I had to tie up all the cutting ones as they had blown over..

our 3 to 4' ones are topping 6', the giants only reached 5' and are all flowering,  ???
but, at least they survived  ;D
