My lottie

Remembered to take both camera and batteries with me today so I thought I'd post up a piccie of my lottie. 

My bit extends from the right edge of the photo to the left edge of the tarps, and all the way back to the fence.  Yep, I really need to do something about that couch grass don't I - but that's next year's project.

No architecture yet - but as I live a five minute walk from the site, and as there have been robberies recently, I don't think that I'll bother with a shed  - just carry on carrying everything I need with me.

Well, the current state of play is the product of around a month's work (I've had it a couple of months but couldn't really do a lot last month) so I don't think that I'm doing too bad.  Hope to get all of the front half turned to beds and planted with something by the end of Aug.

think you've made excellent progress, especially considering the awful weather conditions we had in June!......keep at it, little and often :)

Well done, it takes lots of hard work but this time next year you wil be reaping your rewards.  Very wise about the shed, we went to our allotment this morning and found someone had wrenched  the lock off our shed door and stolen the rotivator.  So annoying!

One thing strikes me about all (or many) of the lottie pics people post is that there are no defined boundaries. 

We have fences around all of our plots which makes ownership a little easier and also goes someway to stopping the little darlings from getting in and kicking up our cabbages.  How do you all manage without fencing??

I would have a shed , if ya don't keep anything of value in it and allways keep it unlocked so the buggers don't smash the door down a shed is some where to sit and get out of the wind and  rains, and have a brew to warm ya up or on them hot sunny days( ::))a cold beer, and not forgetting it's somewhere to hide from the "ya don't do it like that" brigade. ;)

I wish we had a few - toiling away, no idea what I'm doing, at least a visit by the "ya don't do it like that" man would give me someone to blame it on  ;D

Actually, there seem to be a lot of other newbies on the site and so no one tends to tell anyone how to do anything apart from "keep up the good work" and "it'll all be worth it in the end", c'os we are all in the same boat.  Plus I tend to get there at odd hours when there's no  one else around.

Given the area that the site is in (notice the tower blocks*), the 8ft spikey topped fence is pretty much a necessity.  If it ain't nailed down around here it'll get nicked and if it is nailed down it'll get redecorated :(.

The area that can be seen beyond the fence, running all the way down to the trees in the back ground, used to be allotments too, but now is just over grown scrub land alas.



* not that I'm saying that living in a tower block makes one a low life or anything like that (members of my family live in one), just that some of the local yoof tend to have blurred views of right and wrong.

On the subject of same initials if you google A4A you get Allotments for All, Anarchy for All, and Architects for Action. An eclectic mix I think.  ;D
