just on the off chance that i actually get some flowers on my cues how do i tell the difference between male and female flowers, do i only have to remove the male ones, i grew cues before and never took any flowers off and they grew cucumbers?

are they indoor or outdoor, debster, outdoor, you leave the flowers on, indoor, if I remember correctly, the females have a baby cuc on them  :)

debster

they are outdoors in grow bags

Georgie

Then just leave them to it.   ;D  Mine haven't grown an inch since I planted them out last weekend.  I think they are awaiting for a bit of sunshine.   ::)

This photo taken on 10th June shows 2 large cucumbers, one pointing upwards and one at the bottom that looks like a stem, and one small one. The male flower can be seen and it has a tiny stalk so that it is close to the stem. The two large ones were pulled and eaten a few days later and then the rain started and in the three weeks since not a single further fruit has matured. We desperately need sunshine.

I do not nip the male flowers off as I find that if pulled when the thickness of a broom handle, they are perfectly sweet and they only get bitter if left to become giants.

My cucumbers seem to be doing well. I have them on a shelf in the greenhouse. Do I need to put them on the floor and train them up a stake? they look as though they could be tied in like a vine if I left them on the shelf. am I just nuts?????
