I saw this mentioned on the Wildlife Forum and thought I'd check this out!  What do banana skins do for roses? Do I just leave them at the base of the bush and wait for it to rot, or do I dig it into the ground?

Lindsay, It's the potassium in the banana skins that feed the roses.  I usually chop up the banana skins and bury them around the plant a couple of times a year.  Never seems to do any harm.  Lance
Getting there - just rather slowly!!

I liquidise my banana skins with one of those hand held liquidiser wisk thingies.....add a little water before you whizz them up then just pour around the base of your roses.  It doesn't seem to do any harm....seems to be a bloomin marvelous idea.

Hello

Yes you can you banana's for your roses, But the strangest thing i have heard to feed you roses is when planting is to stick a chicken carcase under the rose as it rots down it feeds your roses, i have 50 of them in my garden i haven't tried this myself but i know of a few old boys that have done this and there roses are very healthy.

I have been infected by the "rose virus"  ... I have surrendered to my addiction gracefully. There's no recovery"   On the other hand, imagine life without roses – a dreadful thought!
