Calling all plant stall holders!

Some general advice on pricing plants please? Stuff like peppers, chillies, tumbling toms and sunflowers. Thank you!

Emmy I thought of your stall the other day when I saw an 8" pot full of salad leaves in my local garden centre for the bargain price of

£7.95! :o :o

Unbelievable! For a few bits of mizuna and lettuce, and in a cr*ppy plastic pot anorl.
You been goofin' with the bees?

we did our toms, mm  :o, at 1.00, 5" pot, plant about 10 ", cane in and flowers on
peppers were smaller,only 3" pots, so we did them at 50p, only 'cos we didn't want to mess around with pennies and stuff, and we have a nursery by us, does them for 75p  :)

OMG Pye!!!  :o :o  The maddest thing is that people pay it!!
I was thinking about a squid for my peppers and chillies coz they are really nice now and have flowers and everything!! 50p per tom sounds good though as we also have loads of grocers and nurseries who do them about 75p.
I wish i'd sown some italian leaves now, do you think i'll have time?

Pricing depends on what your market can take-I cover my costs and try to make a few shillings. If a GC is charging say 79p for a tomato plant then I sell them here at 55p. I charge the shop I supply 45p a plant and ask/tell them sell at 60p-sale or return.

Were I somewhere else I could add 25% to the price-and as regards tomato plants you will never see a moneymaker.

PS my peppers and aubies have gone at 70p-in a 5inch pot

Well I've raised all the plants for free as has Sarah and my friend Jacqui who is also involved. The proceeds all go to the PTA funds. Will have a ponder and brew with the girls I think! Thanks for the advice.  ;D

Maybe go on the basis of how much you would be willing to pay for a plant and the amount of interest you would likely get from the other parents, and how much they would likely be able to afford. If you live in an affluentish area you may be able to get away with charging a bit more...

Well depends...

We are having a market stall and I hope to get prices just slightly higher than the proper sellers as ours are all organic etc...

Woody sells chillis for £4 but they are big.

I bought herbs from a stall recently for between £1.50 and £3

You have to thnik about the cost of pots and compost but also the selling prices at local centres too... not much help am i
