I've erected a frame (the kids' swing!) in the allotment, made a framework of canes up it, and I intend to put butternut at one side and cukes at the other.

My question is: how many? I've put plenty of manure in, so feeding won't be a problem. It's just that I've never grown them uphill before.....  :)

Oh, and any other tips?    ;D

My first time with Butternuts RobTH but I'm ahead on the swing frame... grew Achocha up it last year... probably only two, one on each corner but you could put one in the middle...

Hi Robin, I grow mine on a frame in a 4 foot wide bed, put 2 squash per frame on one side, if that makes sense!!
Feed em well and water em lots! Thats my advice! ;D  Oh and direct them in the direction you want them to grow. ;)
