One of my garlic plants is covered in rust. I have dug it up as a precaution.

Is rust harmful? Or is it mostly cosmetic?

I'm sure there will be those who disagree but I eat them - and ot does seems to be a bad year for rust!

I pull up every groundsel seedling I see cos they are the worst for getting (and spreading) rust.

Ten all my garlic has rust, every year! My leeks will then get it later on in the year :(  I just pull off the offending leaves, or snip the tops off them depending on the damage, hasn't affected the eating quality so far ;D

OK I will not be too worried then!

Aye - no problems, Tenuse.  I don't even pull off the leaves - but I do clear the groundsel.   Rust is only a cosmetic problem, I think - unless you're showing the leeks/garlic!

Hey, why shouldn't freckly veg win the show once in a while?
