Hi guys I am trying to get hold of some horseradish to grow my own, what time of year would this be most appropriate to do and does anyone know of a good supplier. I have been advised to grow it in a pot to limit it spreading too far is this the best idea.
I just love really strong horseradish with my roast beef you know the type that makes your head itch on the inside. ;D

Well - I did my best - dug it - by 10am. Offered.

No reply  - forgot it - dried out - now soaking in a bucket.

Dug some more in case it's wanted.

All I need is 10 Runner Bean seeds. That's another story!!

Do put it in a pot to restrict its growth, I recently took on another piece of allotment and it is everywhere.  some kind person thought it was a good idea to grow about 20 years ago, and now this kind person would like to grow other things, not so easy I been painting the leaves with weedkiller for months now and still it appears. Be warned. ???

we have some on our plot , indestructable. If I wanted some I would def grow in a pot.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

tim

Strange, isn't it? Ours has occupied the same square metre - it was yards in those days - for 25 years.

No problem!!

I am in the same position as Tim, I have a patch of horseradish which has been coming up for the last 6 years and although I don't use it ... (can't think of anything to use it with as I don't eat meat)... it still just grows but doesn't get much bigger.

It is a very healthy plant though and seems to throw up quite a lot of little suckers which I pull up when I spot them. Although I won't use it, the leaves are nice to look at and it smells good.

It does seem indestructible, but not sure about wildly spreading, mine doesn't!

Noted, Debbie.  My apologies for my sharpish comment.

But you eat fish, Lin? Just the job. Even cheese!

Joanne - I would think not.

debster

no offence taken and thank you very much for the gift will keep you informed how it arrives etc  ;)

If any body else wants any...

I've found that digging with a fork is useless - the prongs just straddle the thongs!

And don't they go DEEP?? I've never yet got one up whole.

Belinda

I've PM'd you Saddad, I'd love some if you have it.
