Bamboo

I had a large row of bamboo in the garden that I have cut down over the last few days. The roots are all joined together but seem fairly shallow. Does anyone know how far the roots do go, under the root groups they are very dry and breaking off when I lift them with a fork so not sure if I'm getting them all out.

Just a small (cough) amount of couch grass to deal with and I might be able to plant something outside!
