I am wondering of anyone uses home made bug juice with dead bugs to repel bugs on veggies etc.. It is quite popular in Canada among organic gardeners but I have never heard anyone mention it here. XX Jeannine

PS Have recipe if anyone is interested.

Am definitely keen on the recipe please - it's got to be worth a try, as I do grow organically, and naughty plant eating bugs are the bane of my life!

OK, but bear in mind I have never personally used it.I am quoting from sheet I have.

Bug Juice Spray

Bug juice is a spray made from the crushed insect pests and applied to the infected plants. It is not foolproof but many gardeners have had success.
Bug juice may well be a good control since grinding up the insects could release their alarm pheromone or warning scent, which would frighten other bugs away.Or perhaps  when a few sick or disease carrying bugs are whizzed up and sprayed on crops it quickly spreads the disease to others.Or finally it might be that the smell of chopped up insects attracts the pests natural enemies.

Recipe.

To make bug juice collect 1/2 cup of the specific insect, place them in a blender/liquidiser with 2 cups of warm water and whizz them till blended.Strain the liquid through cheesecloth to prevent particles clogging your sprayer. Dilute about 1/4 cup with 1-2 cups of water. Spray both sided of the leaves and also the stems. If it rains, spray again. If you don't have a blender you can do it in a mortar and pestle. Leftovers will freeze.

Have fun folks!!! Sounds disgusting.

don't fancy using my blender for bugs, good luck, anyone who tries it  ;D

I didn't think I needed to put that, although it is the directions sheet so I better  add:

For obvious reasons don't use your household blender to make this juice,If you don't have an old blender just mash the insects up with a mortar and pestle ,add water and proceed.

I heard on the radio a few weeks ago - put a chopped chilli into warm water, soak overnight.  Strain and spray
